5 Myths about breast cancer that everyone thinks are true.

Myth 1: A Lump in the breast is most probably a cancer.

A lump in the breast is 80 % of the time not a cancer. It can mostly be a cyst or a fibro adenoma. Some Lumps come and go during a woman’s menstrual cycle. If you feel any kind of lump, then please consult your doctor to detect what kind of lump it is.

Myth 2: Cancerous Breast Lumps are not painful

Although Breast cancers aren’t always painful but if you are having breast pain then it doesn’t rule out breast cancer. If it’s a inflammatory breast cancer then it will show symptoms like redness, swelling, tenderness and warmth in the lump

Myth 3: Young women do not suffer from Breast Cancer.

You can suffer from breast cancer even if you are young. Even though most breast cancer cases

are seen in women older than 50 there are cases seen in young women as well.

Myth 4: A lump which is small is less likely to be Cancer than a Large Lump

Breast lumps can come in all sizes and small lumps can also be a cancer and can be as dangerous as the large lumps. Whenever you feel there is a lump which is new or unusual, then please visit your doctor.

Myth 5: If there’s No Breast Cancer in Your Family, then the lump is probably harmless

Women think if they do not have family history of breast cancer then they would not suffer from it. But that's not true. Less than 15% of women with breast cancer have a relative who's had the disease, according to the American Cancer Society.
