About Test:

The total body profile is an annual health checkup that is recommended to assess one’s own general health. This panel of tests helps clinicians to evaluate a person’s general well-being, and detect any abnormalities that may have occurred, or those in their beginning stages. This test involves a comprehensive analysis of the thyroid as well, and is useful to detect hypo and hyperthyroidism as well

CBC: 
The Complete Blood Count is a test that provides information about the composition of our blood. It measures the partial and differential white blood cells, red blood cells, as well as platelets. 

Urine routine:
This test of the urine is a cost-effective screening to evaluate color, appearance, volume, density, pH, glucose, proteins, blood cells, glucose, bile salts, pigments and infective elements in the urine. Presence of red blood cells, pus cells, and crystals may give an idea about urinary infections.

Thyroid Profile:
This panel of tests is used to test the functioning of the thyroid gland. The levels of thyroid hormones such as T3, T3 are measured in their bound and unbound forms in order to see whether they are present in normal amounts. Using this profile, hyper or hypothyroidism can be detected effectively.
 

ESR:
The Erythrocyte sedimentation rate helps to see how fast Red Blood Cells in unclotted blood settle down in a tall tube. During inflammation, red blood cells clump close together and settle faster, resulting in high ESR. This test is useful to detect inflammatory issues such as polymyalgia and arthritis.

Estimation of blood sugar (Fasting & Post prandial) : 
These blood tests measure glucose in the blood, which comes from carbohydrates. Glucose gives us energy and is regulated by insulin in the blood. Low levels indicate hypoglycemia, and very high glucose levels may indicate diabetes.

Lipid profile : 
This group of blood tests measures the levels different kinds of lipids in the blood, such as Low density lipoprotein, high density lipoprotein, very low density lipoprotein, triglycerides. It is useful to indicate risk for heart problems, and can identify certain genetic issues as well

LDH:
This blood test measures levels of LDH, which speeds up the usage of lactate and pyruvate in the body. It is present in the red blood cells, and may be present in large amounts if there a heart attack has occurred, if there is liver congestion, or P carinii pneumonia.

SGOT: 
This blood test measures the levels of SGOT, which is an enzyme present in liver, skeletal, muscle, brain, red blood cells and the heart. High concentrations of SGOT may indicate damaged tissues, especially an injury of the liver.

SGPT:
This blood test measures the levels of SGPT, which is an enzyme present in liver, heart, kidneys and skeletal muscles. High concentrations of SGPT may indicate damaged tissues, especially an injury of the liver

Total bilirubin: 
This blood test measures levels of bilirubin which is produced during breaking down of hemoglobin. Both conjugated and unconjugated bilirubin make up the total concentration in blood. Elevated bilirubin occurs in diseases of the liver, and in hemolysis. 

Total Proteins:
This test helps to measure levels of specific proteins (albumin, globulin) in the blood. Globulin levels can be calculated by subtracting albumin levels from total protein. Hypoproteinemia is usually indicative of hypoalbumenia

Alk Po4:
This test measures levels of alkaline phosphatase (important enzyme that helps break proteins) in blood. Levels of this enzyme are highest in the bone marrow and liver. Measuring Alk Po4 levels helps to warn against and monitor treatment for diseases of the bone, parathyroid and liver.

Bun:
This blood test measures Blood urea Nitrogen (BUN), which is a waste product formed in the liver from proteins and amino acids, expelled and filtered by the kidneys into the urine. When measured with creatinine, it can be used to detect kidney issues quite accurately.

Creatinine:  
This blood test measures levels of Creatinine, which is a waste product from the muscles, filtered out by kidneys. High creatinine levels may indicate high risk for stones, and also chance of kidney failure and other renal issues. 

Uric acid:
This test measures levels of blood uric acid, which is a waste product often produced from foods like red meat, and released in urine. Uric acid levels in case of gout may be quite high. High levels may also indicate a risk for impairment of kidney functioning (kidney failure)

Calcium:
This test helps to measure blood calcium levels. Calcium, obtained especially from dairy products, helps in bone formation and maintaining bone health. This test is useful to detect issues with the kidney, in case of calcium deposits in stones. It also helps to detect bone issues, which are seen in case of low calcium.

Phosphorous:
This test helps measure blood phosphorous levels. Phosphorous aids in formation of new bones, muscle and nerve function, and helps maintain acid-base balance. Levels are seen to be higher in chronic kidney disease, and in hormonal and gastrointestinal issues

Estimation of serum electrolytes: 
This blood test measures sodium, potassium and chloride levels. Electrolytes have electric charge and help in maintaining balance within the body, in muscle function, and in acid-base balance. Abnormal kidney functioning may cause electrolyte imbalances.
